Description of the workshop

On December 2, two 1.5-hour workshops were held for first- and second-cycle English philology students.

They covered the following topics:
– types of conference interpreting;
– specificity of working for European institutions from the perspective of the Polish booth;
– exercises in the native language (Polish), without the element of translation, aimed at checking the predisposition to interpreting (exercises of auditory memory, free speech on a given topic, quick reaction in stressful situations, etc.);
– simple consecutive and simultaneous interpreting exercises in the language pair Polish<->English with emphasis on interpreting into the native language (95-100% of the interpreter’s time in the Polish booth).

The workshops offered students an excellent opportunity to practice their interpreting skills while engaging with an expert who has extensive experience working in European institutions.
