About Preparatory Polish Language Course

VIZJA University offers a comprehensive 9-month Preparatory Polish Language Course designed for international students who wish to begin their academic studies in Poland

The programme provides intensive training in all four language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing, ensuring students achieve a minimum B2 level of proficiency according to the CEFR scale, enabling them to start studies at VIZJA University.

  • Entry requirement: Minimum A2 level of Polish (proved by a certificate or confirmed during a placement test).
  • Location: On-campus, VIZJA University in Warsaw (some classes will be held online)
  • Duration: 9 months

Course Objectives and Goals

Upon successful completion, participants will receive an official Certificate of Completion, confirming their language competence and granting them direct eligibility to start studies at VIZJA University.

This course is an excellent opportunity for students to strengthen their Polish language skills, adapt to an academic environment, and prepare for university-level education in Poland.

Syllabus Outline

The course is structured into thematic modules designed to systematically develop the four key language skills required for academic study: listening, reading, speaking and writing. The course consists of 650 hours of intensive language classes.

Module 1 – Foundations of Academic English (Weeks 1–8)

  • Review and consolidation of grammar structures (A2–B1 level)
  • Developing lexical competence, including introduction to basic academic vocabulary
  • Practising reading comprehension
  • Practising listening comprehension
  • Developing writing skills
  • Introduction to structured speaking (short presentations, discussions)

Module 2 – Intermediate Communication (Weeks 9–16)

  • Expansion of general and academic vocabulary
  • Working with texts (press, online, literary) as a basis for lexical, word-formation, grammatical, phonetic and orthographic practice
  • Practising speaking skills: discussions, debates, problem-solving tasks
  • Grammar workshops at B2 level

Module 3 – Advanced Skills (Weeks 17–24)

  • Critical reading and text analysis
  • Advanced listening comprehension
  • Oral communication: delivering individual and group presentations
  • Writing formal and semi-formal texts and developing formal style
  • Writing and editing texts at B2 level

Module 4 – Examination Preparation and University Integration (Weeks 25–36)

  • Intensive practice of the four language skills at B2 level
  • Focus on fluency and accuracy in oral communication
  • Developing writing competence at B2 level
  • Mock tests at B2 level
  • Orientation workshops: adapting to student life and study in Poland

Assessment

  • Continuous assessment (class participation, assignments, tests)
  • Mid-term and final exams (listening, reading, writing, speaking)
  • Final Certificate of Completion awarded upon successful passing of the B2-level exam.
