From May 21 to 24 of this year, the authorities of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health Sciences, Prof. Bożena Waszkiewicz-Robak and Dr. Maciej Kluz, attended a training session on genetic modification and the restoration of old grape varieties. Additionally, they established a collaboration with the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Split – Institute of Food Technology.
During the meetings, cooperation was initiated in the area of the newly emerging Enology program, including the involvement of Croatian scientists in teaching, as well as opportunities for students to undertake internships at the Institute in Split and in the vicinity of Zadar, particularly in the vineyards located in the Maslina Valley, where, in addition to olives, vines are cultivated on 450 hectares.
The visit enriched our knowledge and, most importantly, allowed us to strengthen our collaboration. We hope this will significantly enhance the attractiveness of the enology study program.
Croatia is now the fourth country, alongside Slovakia, Italy, and Hungary, with which we will develop this study program.
