Why choose this field of study?

NOT

The dynamic growth of intercultural education and economic cooperation between Europe and the countries of the Middle and Far East is creating broad and attractive career prospects for individuals with knowledge of Oriental languages. In response to these global trends, we have developed a unique degree programme that combines English Philology with intensive study of an additional Oriental language of your choice:

  • Chinese
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Persian
  • Arabic

During your studies, you will develop advanced proficiency in English, along with practical skills tailored to your chosen module path: Translation Studies or Language Education. From the very first semester, you will also begin learning your selected Oriental language — saving time and money you would otherwise spend on extra courses.

If you wish to significantly enhance your philological and communication competences, and distinguish yourself in future recruitment processes with knowledge of an Eastern language — this programme is an ideal choice.

Please note: This programme is taught entirely in English and is therefore recommended for candidates with at least B2 level English proficiency.

English Philology with Additional Language – what sets us apart?

  • We offer comprehensive preparation for a career in English philology. Through hands-on classes, you will develop the practical skills required for work as a translator or English language teacher.
  • Your chosen Oriental language will be part of your curriculum throughout the entire course of studies — from the first to the sixth semester.
  • If you find that your initial choice of Oriental language does not suit you, you will be able to switch to another foreign language offered by VIZJA University without unnecessary formalities.
  • You will learn from the best — experienced academic staff, practising translators, native speakers, and experts in language education.
  • During your studies, you will complete a personal social impact project, allowing you to develop additional soft and organisational skills.
  • You will also become part of VIZJA University’s international and intercultural academic community — ranked 2nd in the Internationalisation category of the 2024 Perspektywy University Rankings.

NOT Specialist Translator Competency Certificate of the Chief Technical Organisation (Naczelna Organizacja Techniczna, NOT)

The NOT Specialist Translator Competency Certificate is a prestigious credential confirming professional competencies in specialised and technical translation. The certification, administered within the framework of the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations (Federacja Stowarzyszeń Naukowo-Technicznych NOT, FSNT-NOT), provides formal recognition of skills related to the translation of technical documentation, industry-specific terminology, technical standards, and communication in industrial environments.
NOT

What will you gain from NOT certification?

  • official recognition – you will gain a recognized specialized translator certificate and an entry into the Register of Technical Translators
  • better job prospects – you will stand out when applying to translation agencies, tech firms, and industrial companies
  • expert networking – you will enter a professional environment and connect directly with international organizations
  • clear career path – you will build a foundation for advancing to higher levels – from assistant to project leader

What can you do after graduation?

As a graduate in English Philology with knowledge of an additional Oriental language, you will be well-prepared for a career as a translator in translation agencies or as a language instructor in private language schools. You may also find employment in international cooperation offices at universities or in organisations focused on intercultural integration.

Your language skills and cultural awareness will open up opportunities in the tourism sector as well as in international companies and corporations — especially those operating in the Middle Eastern and Asian markets, which are currently among the most dynamic in terms of trade and investment.

Alternatively, you may decide to start and grow your own business in the language services or education sector. The choice is yours!
