Meet our student Manuela! She is from Colombia. Manuela is studying Management and as a native speaker she is running a free Spanish course at AEH. Who is this girl, and why, after visiting different countries, she has chosen Poland?
We decided to talk to Manuela and ask her some questions.
Manuela, I know that you have lived in different countries, please tell me why did you choose Poland?
To be honest since I left my country I always want to do something new and I don’t know why I like big challenges and new places… and when you don’t know the language is a big challenge! Like one year ago I couldn’t understand Polish, now I do understand and i speak basic Polish!
I chose Warsaw-Poland because of the culture history and international environment. I have lived in 3 different countries trying to decided the best option to start my bachelor and personally Poland has been the most ideal place for me. Poland is ideal for foreign students, lots opportunities, many things to do, friendly community, very affordable, incredible places to visit…
Amazing! We are happy to have such a brave girl as our student. So, why did you choose AEH?
Due to multiple reasons… firstly the campus, library, classrooms, etc. I just found the place incredibly inspirational and motivating. Secondly, the study program, and the emphasis you put on hands-on practice. I also like the support from the school for the students who need to work and study at the same time. Last but not least, the way the university is presented both online and on social platforms really resonates with my values.
Good to hear. You also do a lot for the university. I mean the Spanish course you’re running. Where did this idea come from? How is working with other students?
First of all I have never painted myself teaching Spanish, but due to my past experiences I realized I was really good at it. I worked as an AuPair in The United States and Germany, teaching Spanish and at the same time with the kids I was learning English and German. I got really good results that is why I learned a lot from others and for me it is really important to share my knowledge with people, in this case the Spanish language because I am a Spanish native speaker. I am not a professional teacher but I am sure with my method which I am trying to make it fun and practical we will succeed.
I don’t even doubt it! What hobbies do you have besides sharing your knowledge?
In general I really enjoy spending my time working with kids and at the same time helping them grow, with activities and also languages. I make sure I prioritize everything in my life so that all my tasks can get done to the best of my ability. I am also working for my mom’s business on the marketing side. I enjoy spending time with my friends as well as going to the gym, movies and visiting the city. I always try to be active dependent on the circumstances!
