Designers Play Sustain is a new competition dedicated to circular fashion, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly approaches through upcycling. The competition aims to inspire young designers to create valuable products from existing materials while reducing textile overproduction and environmental impact.
We are proud that Dr. Magdalena Płonka, Dean of School of Humanities and Fine Arts, was invited to join the prestigious jury, which also included esteemed experts such as Mariusz Przybylski, Monika Surowiec, and Katarzyna Zajączkowska, a renowned designer and lecturer in sustainable fashion.
Our university had the honor of being an official academic partner for this event and sponsoring three annual scholarships in the Fashion Design and Sustainable Fashion Management program.
Congratulations to our laureates: Monika Maurycy, Kornelia Trzcionkowska, and Robert Kuta! The awards were ceremoniously presented on stage by His Magnificence Rector Prof. Konrad Janowski.
The Designers Play Sustain competition concluded with a final fashion show held on April 25, 2024, at the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology. The event featured young designers showcasing their collections made from recycled materials. The grand prize was a check for 50,000 PLN, with additional prizes including scholarships and the opportunity to present collections in a circular fashion boutique.
Heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants of the competition!
