Polish Scientist Among Leading Scholars from Oxford and Harvard

We are proud to announce that Dr. hab. Radosław Rogoza, a professor at the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw, has been included in the prestigious APS Rising Stars list, announced in February 2025 by the Association for Psychological Science (APS), one of the world’s leading psychological associations. This exceptional distinction places him alongside outstanding scholars from universities such as Oxford, Harvard, and other top-tier institutions, including members of the Ivy League, underscoring the global significance of his achievement. Moreover, Professor Rogoza is the first Polish scholar in history to receive this prestigious title!

APS Rising Stars – Global Recognition for Professor Rogoza

The APS Rising Stars program is an initiative that recognizes early-career researchers for their innovative studies and potential to further shape their fields. This list, published by APS, features scholars from the world’s most prestigious institutions. Professor Rogoza’s presence among these academic giants is not only a personal success but also a historic moment for Polish science.

Reflecting on the significance of this recognition, Professor Rogoza remarked:

Such distinctions are typically awarded to major academic institutions, often Ivy League members, where competition from the perspective of a Polish scientist is challenging. However, as you can see – it is definitely not impossible! Being recognized as a rising star in psychology by one of the world’s most important psychological associations is a great honor for me, and I hope it will be a milestone in the further development of my academic career. We have enormous potential – we just need to believe in it!

Another Distinction in Professor Rogoza’s Career

This is not the professor’s first major achievement in recent times. Dr. hab. Radosław Rogoza received a prestigious award from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding scientific achievements. Moreover, at the inauguration of the 2024/2025 academic year, UEHS students honored him with the Lecturer of the Year award. His Magnificence, Rector of UEHS, Dr. hab. Konrad Janowski, commenting on the event, called Professor Rogoza “an outstanding young man – a scientist who happens once in a million,” emphasizing his diligence, passion, and humility. These qualities certainly contributed to his international success as an APS Rising Star.

Research on Narcissism and Ambitious Plans for the Future

Professor Rogoza is a respected researcher whose work focuses on narcissism and the dark side of personality. Discussing his research plans, he revealed that he is currently at the center of a global scientific discussion on the dynamics of narcissism:

My habilitation research focused on developing a theoretical model of vulnerable narcissism. Through the advancement of theory, we managed to complete the theoretical description of narcissism forms, but current research trends suggest that narcissism is a dynamic construct that fluctuates over time. Thanks to the development of detailed methods for measuring narcissistic states, we are at the forefront of this research, and I hope that our UEHS team will be the first in the world to empirically validate these changes and develop a model explaining the conditions under which they occur.

These ambitious plans show that Professor Rogoza does not intend to rest on his laurels. His research may make a groundbreaking contribution to the development of personality psychology.

Science and Teaching – Professor Rogoza’s Mission

As an UEHS lecturer, Professor Rogoza not only conducts research at the highest level but also actively supports student development. Asked how he combines research with teaching, he responded:

I lead grants funded by the National Science Center, and through this work, I offer research scholarships to outstanding students from UEHS and other universities. I believe that this very young team has enormous potential, and in a few years, we will be reading about their achievements that will surpass what we are celebrating today.

He also emphasized the importance of the master-student relationship, which is still developing in Poland:

A strong commitment to teaching is what sets our academic model apart from Western institutions, where the master-student relationship has been cultivated for generations. We are only now shaping such traditions – I am proud that I had the opportunity to develop under Professor Cieciuch, whose contribution to my academic growth is invaluable. Today, I strive to pass on knowledge and values that will bear fruit in the future!

Inspiration for the Academic Community

Professor Rogoza’s success on the APS Rising Stars list is not only a source of pride for the University of Economics and Human Sciences community. It is also an inspiration for all of Polish science. His determination, passion, and belief in the potential of Polish researchers show that even in the competitive academic world, international recognition can be achieved.

On behalf of the entire UEHS community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Radosław Rogoza and wish him continued success – both in research and in inspiring future generations of scholars and students!
